146 Years of History

Friends of Monmouth Boat Club is a collective commitment to preserving the Historic Boat House of the Monmouth Boat Club and the Historical artifacts showcased within. The Monmouth Boat Club is recognized as a historic site by the National Register of Historic Places and one of New Jersey's 2025 ten most endangered historic places.

Your support and involvement is key to ensuring the preservation of this time-capsule on the Navesink River.

A Worthwhile Cause

Preservation

The iconic Monmouth Boat Club building, built in 1895 and expanded in 1929 sits on a wood pile foundation, which after more than a century, requires a full replacement. Due to the unique nature of the historic building being partially perched over the Navesink River, an extensive project has been underway to plan for the replacement of the foundation.

The current Monmouth Boat Club is built on wood pilings sunken into the riverbed, in a similar method used in the City of Venice as illustrated above.

Education

Monmouth Boat Club is the only organization to offer both Adult and Junior sailing lessons on the Navesink.

The Monmouth Boat Club is home to one of the largest collections of historic photographs and paintings chronicling life on the Navesink River, in Red Bank, NJ, over the last 150+ years.

Adapting to Climate Change

As the sea levels continue to rise, the frequency of flooding continues to increase. This project will help to mitigate flood risk by elevating the base height of the structure.
